Manaaki Café is open for business

This term has seen the welcome return of the Manaaki café. Run by Hospitality and Catering students, the café sees a classroom being turned into a fully operational café for two lunchtimes a week. Customers can make bookings at the school Business Centre.

Poorman Valley Stream not so poor anymore

NZ Moves Back to Level 2

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement tonight that there are cases of community transmission in Auckland, Nayland College would like to assure our community that school will be open as per usual tomorrow.

Nayland opens its doors to prospective students

Tuesday night was Nayland College’s open night, with over 900 visitors coming in two shifts to sample what student life at Nayland College is like.

House Cook Off competition comes to a tasty finish

Teachers and staff were the big winners Thursday lunch time, when they got to judge the delicious results of the inaugural Nayland College House Cook Off.

Year 10 Social Studies students find their passion

Year 10 Social Studies teachers, Amanda Walker and Nathan Gargiulo, are helping their students find their passion through the ‘Genius Hour’ approach. Every week, students are given one period to devote to something they feel passionate about and are supported by their teachers to investigate and create something in relation to their chosen topic.

Doctor Herb has all you need to pimp out your food

Last term three of our Business Studies groups pitched their ideas in a ‘Dragons Den’ style judging scenario as part of The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme. We’ve been following their journey and this week ‘Doctor Herb’ presented their range of high quality herb and spice mixes for tastings and sales at our Open Evening.

Supa Sauce taking it to the next level this year

Opening sales figures are looking promising for ‘Supa Sauce’ as members of the public who toured Nayland College’s Open Evening on Tuesday got to sample and purchase the group’s delicious product. Sociology class organises record breaking mufti day

Our Year 11 Sociology class has made a valuable contribution to the community by raising over $1200 and receiving donations of 26 boxes of food, through their organisation of a mufti day and food drive.

Kuaka Cafe a big hit with staff and students

It’s game on for winter sport

After a forced hiatus caused by the Covid-19 lockdown, young athletes will be happy to hear that the school winter sports season is about to start again. Nayland College Sports Coordinator Angela Baker and the Director of Sport Brendan Crichton, are working hard to get our winter codes up and running.
