MR GAVIN MILLAR
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT DIRECTOR
Gavin Millar is the International Student Director. His role is to help you adjust to living and learning in Nelson. He will assist you with your subject selection, timetabling and with finding cultural and sporting opportunities. Gavin keeps in contact with your families and agencies and is available to help you any time.
MRS HEIDRUN BERL
HEAD OF THE ESOL DEPARTMENT
Heidrun is currently on leave for 2018
Heidrun is in charge of the ESOL programme, is a specialist ESOL teacher and teaches the Cambridge English programme. She speaks fluent German and French. English is available for all students of varying ability and it is Heidrun’s job to place students in the most appropriate class.
MRS JANELLE COCHRANE
Janelle Cochrane is is one of the specialist ESOL teachers. She designs and teachers our intensive English programmes. Her classes help to bring the students’ English skills to the required level ready for integration into the mainstream classes.
MRS SOPHIA MORRIS
Sophia’s role as homestay co-ordinator is an essential part of the international programme at Nayland College. Sophia places students into appropriate homestay families and provides on-going support for our families.
MRS SYTSKE WRIGHT
Sytske manages everything from the first initial contact, to offers of place, visas applications and everything else that goes with a busy international office. She is often the first point of contact.
MRS AUKJE BOTH
Aukje Both is one of the ESOL Teachers. She helps to design and teach our intensive English programmes. Her classes help to bring students’ English skills to the required level ready for integration into the mainstream classes.
MS CATHARINE WOOD
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SUPPORT
Catharine is the International Student Support person. She meets with students on a one-to-one basis and helps students work through any concerns that they may have as they adapt to live in a new culture.
