The Nayland College Library was packed on Monday afternoon with students interested in how to earn Scholarships
On Monday the 15th of February, Mr John Cubanski provided an information session for students who were interested in finding out about how NZQA Scholarship examinations and assessments work.
There are no longer any fees to enter Scholarship papers, so the incentive to work towards scholarship at the end of the year is even greater.
New Zealand Scholarship provides recognition and monetary reward to top students in their last year(s) of schooling.
Students can earn anywhere between $500 for achieving a single scholarship up to $10,000 each year for up to three years for as long as the recipient maintains at least a ‘B’ grade average each year of their tertiary study.
This year the College aims to host a regular cafe-style drop in session on Fridays from lunchtime through to Period 4 where students aiming to sit Scholarship can study together and seek support from teachers who will be available on a roster basis. We will send out a further update when these sessions start.
A number of subject teachers will also be hosting Scholarship tutorials starting soon, and we will share this schedule with students once these have been finalised.
