USA jaunt rewarding for young thespian

9E picks up on reserve litter issue

As part of 9E’s current health focus, the class identified a need to address the litter issue at popular summer reserves.

The Sir Wallace Rowling Memorial Scholarship is open to students from schools across the Nelson/Tasman area. This year one of the two recipients is Nayland’s own Matthew Edmonds.

Short films impress at competition

Nayland College media studies students were among the 23 young filmmakers who showed off their wares at the annual Briefs film competition on Thursday the 31st of October. Held at the Suter Theater, the competition saw a packed house enjoy student films from Nayland College, Nelson College for Girls and Nelson Boy’s College.

Sophie set to rep Nelson in China

Sophie Hampson, a Year 12 student at Nayland College, will be traveling to Nelson’s sister-city Yangjiang, China in April 2020 as part of an ongoing Arts and Cultural Youth Exchange Programme.

Despite only joining Nayland last term, new science teacher Sterling Cathman has proven to be very popular already. With his unconventional teaching methods, paying attention in class has never been so much fun!
