Haere Mai fundraiser – in the bag!

Our school’s recent casual dress day raised money for the Haere Mai Bags project.

Haere Mai Bags is a project led by Nayland College students to help former refugee students start their schooling journey. The casual dress day was a big hit, we could have not been happier. Students alongside some teachers donated koha during the fundraising. The Year 11 leadership group and Haere Mai Bags committee worked together to make the fundraising a hit.

What made the day even better was the amount we raised—$722.50! The money will make a big difference for Haere Mai Bags. The money raised will be used to buy stationery items for former refugee kids that are about to start their schooling in New Zealand. The team is very grateful to everyone who contributed to help us achieve the number. It made us feel so good that our efforts had such a pleasing result.

This experience taught us that if we come together, we can make a great difference in our community. Whether someone donated money or collected it, we appreciate everyone’s effort that has been put in. Without you, nothing would have been possible. Haere Mai Bags can’t wait to make it even more significant on the website.
