Year 12/13 work from home

Students in year 12 and 13 will move to online learning starting Friday 18 March, returning Wednesday 23 March.

Dear parents and caregivers

Like many in our community, our staff have been significantly impacted by the current Covid-19 outbreak, with a large number either unwell or isolating with family members. With a dwindling pool of relief teachers, it has become increasingly difficult, and now impossible to ensure all classes are supervised. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to move year 12 and 13 students to online learning.

At this stage this only impacts three school days, starting on Friday 18 March, with students returning on Wednesday 23 March.  We will review the decision early next week.

Trades Academy will continue to operate this Friday and some Outdoor Education programmes may continue (the teachers concerned will be in touch).  Any assessments will be rescheduled.

Online Learning

If students are well they will need to start online learning. The hub for each of our online classrooms is the class Team. This often includes a OneNote with pages of lesson activities. Students will need to take responsibility for going to the Team and finding the instructions for tasks.

Teachers will use the ‘General – Posts’ area of the Team to let students know where to find tasks and resources. Please note that teachers will always not be able to directly contact parents or students by email to set work.  Should students need to contact a teacher by email the format is firstname.lastname@nayland.school.nz.

I apologise for any inconvenience that this decision might cause families.

Ngā mihi
