Important message for bus users

Please note that all students over the age of 12 now need to wear a mask on school bus services.

Dear parents/caregivers

We are all looking forward to a busy and action packed summer term and I hope you have all had a great holiday.

No doubt you have seen in the news a range of new Government measures aimed to protect individuals and communities from potential COVID 19 outbreaks. I will detail some of the measures that impact on us at Nayland College next week. However, it is important to note that it is now compulsory for all students travelling on buses and school transport to wear a mask/face covering.

While this applies to all students over the age of 12, we are aware that some students will have an exemption based on their individual situations. If you could please inform us if that applies to your student we will make sure that this is noted and followed so students are not put under stress and asked questions around this.

If required, you can request an exemption card from the Disabled Persons Assembly NZ by contacting them on 04 801 9100 or emailing them at info@dpa.org.nz.

Our bus contractor will not leave students on the side of the road, but will ask us to make sure students comply with the new rules. Please communicate with us as soon as possible if this is likely to be an issue so we can work through solutions.

Ngā mihi,

Daniel Wilson
Principal
