Nayland has great success at Shakespeare Festival

With five local schools involved, Nayland College students received nine of the sixteen awards available.

Nayland College hosted the Nelson/Tasman heats of the SGCNZ University of Otago Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival in the school hall on Saturday 27 March. Five local high schools participated : Garin College, Nelson College for Girls, Motueka High School, Waimea College and Nayland College.

Nayland students were awarded nine of the sixteen prizes:

‘A Comedy of Errors’ performed by Anushka Castaing, Matthew Edgar, Isabel Lyttle and Michael Vallance won two awards – Best Comedy and Reserve 15 minute scene

‘Macbeth’ performed by Molly Clarke and Tyler Curtis and directed by Will Irvine won both Best Tragedy and Reserve 5 minute scene

Freya Moffat won Best Student Director – 5 minute scene for ‘Merry Wives of Windsor’

Matthew Edgar won Best Delivery of Lines for his part in ‘A Comedy of Errors’

‘Romeo and Juliet’ came away with three awards for Anushka Castaing, Tegan Jessop, Isabel Lyttle and Hailey Potts – Best example of a Team Performance, Best Choreographed Scene, and Most Imaginative Production.
