14 Feb Summer trip challenges students
After two year of planning, saving and training, nine students from Nayland College spent part of their summer travelling through Laos and Cambodia.
After 30 hours of travel, the group began their adventure in Vientiane, Laos, where they quickly became accustomed to life in South-East Asia. Crossing roads, bartering, ordering food and coping with the heat were all challenges that the students faced.
Aged between 16 and 18, the group travelled with an international student travel company, World Challenge. During their time away, students were in charge of all aspects of the expedition. They booked their own accommodation, budgeted, made transport arrangements and communicated independently with the locals.
Each student took turns at leading the group and the experience has left the students with lasting memories and a wide range of life skills that they gained during this trip of a life time.
