14 Oct Nayland students attend RUISF forum in Japan
Four Nayland College students have been selected to attend an international student forum in Japan. Rae Tilsley, Eva Hansen, Toia Gibbons-Smith and Taylah Kirker will travel to Uji, Kyoto in February 2016 to take part in the Ritsumeikan Uji International Student Forum. The forum, intended to foster cross-cultural understanding and cooperation, is attended by delegations from schools around the world.
Past events have included speakers, social activities and workshops in Japanese calligraphy, Japanese hospitality, traditional Japanese dance, social networking, urban planning, Kendo and positive psychology. The girls will also take advantage of free time after the forum to explore the area.
2016 participant Eva Hansen expects the trip to be a life-changing opportunity. “This trip is a chance for us to learn about how we as individuals and a member of a group deal with situations where we don’t have mum or dad holding our hands. It’s maybe a chance for us to grow, gain confidence and become more aware of our surroundings.”
