13 Nov Nayland pirates storm the high seas on the Spirit of New Zealand
Ten Nayland College students have just arrived back from the trip of a life time, including an unexpected meeting with the future king. The Year 10 students spent five action-packed days sailing on the Spirit of New Zealand, around the Waitemata Harbour.
Every day started with a 7am swim, followed by competitions, sailing and duties as they competed against three other schools for the voyage trophy. The voyage developed individual confidence and skills and taught the students to work together as a team. They were thrown a curve ball on Tuesday, with the students meeting Prince Charles and appearing on international and national media!
If you are year 9 this year, make sure you get in early to put your name down for next year’s voyage, or apply for the 10-day individual voyage which is open to students aged 15-18 years.
