10 May Nayland Hosts Tawa College in Annual Sports Exchange

Fynn Sawyer wraps up the annual Tawa sports exchange.

Last week Nayland College had the pleasure of hosting Tawa College for the annual sports exchange. This fiercely contested battle between schools always guarantees some thrilling matches in various sports and this year was no exception. The games were very entertaining to watch and this was reflected in the huge turnout of supporters and players from each school. The results are as follows:



Nayland Senior A lost to Tawa Senior A 35-12
Nayland Senior B lost to Tawa Senior B 31-22
Nayland 10A lost to Tawa Junior Team 31-16
Nayland Senior B lost to Tawa Senior A 48-13
Nayland Senior A beat Tawa Senior B 26-18
Nayland 9A beat Tawa Junior Team 30-21

Mixed Team game won by Tawa 6-0
Junior Boys game won by Tawa 1-1 (won on penalties)


Tawa Girls’ Team won 10-0
Tawa Boys’ Team won 7-3

Girls’ Football drew 3-3
Nayland 1st XI beat Tawa 1st XI 2-1


Nayland 1st XV lost to Tawa 1st XV 44-5

Nayland Girls’ A lost to Tawa 33-32
Nayland Boys’ A beat Tawa 79-46


Tawa College won the overall exchange, 10.5 wins to 4.5. Students involved said they thoroughly enjoyed the exchange and that it was great to get to know their billets over the two-day exchange.

Next year Nayland College teams will travel up to Tawa to attempt to reclaim the exchange trophy.
