09 Feb Ex-Student becomes Rhodes Scholar


Former Dux of Nayland College, Kimberley Savill, has been awarded the prestigious Rhodes scholarship for 2016.

Studying at Victoria University, Kimberley has recently completed a Bachelor of Science with Frist Class Honours. Her success during her degree also resulted in her being awarded Victoria Excellence Scholarships and New Zealand Institute of Chemistry prizes during every year of her degree.

Kimberley’s goal is to contribute towards improved renewable energy generation in the future. The Rhodes scholarship will support her in pursuing a Doctorate in Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.

The Rhodes scholarship is awarded to 89 students from 32 different countries each year and covers study fees, accommodation and living costs for three years at Oxford. Academic achievement, leadership and commitment to service are all criteria for receiving the award.
