02 Nov Child Studies class cooks for Kindergarten kids

IMG_1083Senior Child Studies completed one of their final assessments this year by serving lunch to children from Nayland Kindergarten. Students were tasked with selecting, planning and preparing a healthy, seasonal and budget-conscious lunch for a small group.

Class teacher Gerd Banke explained that the value of the activity was in the application of health and nutrition concepts in a real setting. “The decisions students make in choosing ingredients and preparing lunches are the same as those made in families every day.”
